Changing times….

Well after a lengthy break from writing, I figured it might be time to dip my toe back in the literary waters & see if I could ramble enough to be worthy of posting.  I’ve been around and for once, holding my own healthwise, but have added in another new hobby in the form of jewellery making, so that’s really been taking up way more of my spare time than ideal.  BUT it’s hugely relaxing and enjoyable, and another means of pushing my pain down out of thought which is always good.

But I’ve been gaining a sense of late that times moving very fast these days and not just time, but many biblical prophecies too.   There are really no major prophecies yet to be fulfilled before Jesus could return, but there are quite a few “minor” ones.  One of those that many are keeping a very close eye on is that of Damascus being reduced to nothing “Behold. Damascus will cease from being a city, and it will be a ruinous heap” Isaiah 17:1  To my knowledge that has never yet happeend in history thus far.  It’s been hammered many times through various wars but has always been there.   This scripture, however, talks of it being no more afterwards – hard to contemplate, yet you only have to watch the current war in Syria to realise how close the city has come to utter destruction to realise that the prophecy is closer now than ever to fulfillment.  The following verses speak of utter desolation in the land of Syria and beyond.  Certainly in the current climate of the Middle East that wouldn’t be too hard to see happen at some point.

Other verses have long made me ponder about certain events – in the Revelation, John speaks of a day when there will be 2 Witnesses sent by God to proclaim His judgements on Israel & beyond.  However, they will be killed but their bodies left on the street for the whole world to view:

When they finish their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit will make war against them, overcome them, and kill them. And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our[c] Lord was crucified. Then those from the peoples, tribes, tongues, and nations will see their dead bodies three-and-a-half days, and not allow[d] their dead bodies to be put into graves. 10 And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them, make merry, and send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth.”  Rev 11:7-11

I used to wonder how would everyone in the world see this as not that long ago television would have been the primary means but not everyone has a TV – even today that is still the case, BUT, now in 2018, more people on the planet either own or have access to a smartphone and a good connection to go with it.  Heck, even ISIS terrorists in deepest darkest Afghanistan have the best and most sophisticated phones & software!!

The other verse that used to make me think “How could that ever be?” is where Jesus asks “………Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”   Luke 18:8.  Again, I used to think “Of course He will, how could He not??”  But now I know differently.  It’s estimated now that Islam is rapidly rising to overtake Christianity in many countries of the world, and even in so-called “Christian” countries, the volume of churches that are actually closing is on the rise as never before.   Christians now face persecution of various degress in countries where it would previously have been deemed unthinkable, and even where the faith is fairly strong, there’s a rapid decline towards secular humanism in the surrounding culture.   Where once, many children would have heard about Jesus from childhood, through school, and regularly at Sunday School, nowadays many children couldn’t tell you Who He is regardless of why He is important.  Many adults are no better off, as many of the current generation come from broken families, which led many to handle the resultant hurt through alcohol and drugs, and who have lost faith in everything and everybody let alone God.  Some, through the work of the AA and other organisations, do manage to gain faith but not all.  Many prefer to become atheists or at best agnostics as it makes for an easier life.   And even of those who if asked would say they are “Christians”, most are such in culture terms only, again having little or no true faith.  So it’s much easier to understand how, if that’s the situation at this point in life, & we know much worse lies ahead for the world to endure before Jesus’ return, that there may indeed be few with any true faith left on the earth.  Hard to believe it’s actually come to that point within a century or less – from a generation where life revolved around family and church, to one where neither features at all.

If I manage to squeeze another afternoon into my schedule to continue to write some more, I’ll certainly do so – I’ve a bit more I’d like to write yet to explore on this continuing topic.  But don’t worry if nothing appears for a while – as you can see, I’ll be around so feel free to get in touch, comment or point me to others who I might enjoy connecting with too. :).  Thanks for reading.

Sometimes you just have to marvel at how mankind truly never does learn anything from history, but especially remote history, and more especially again, history which it seems to not even accept as ever happening (because the Bible says it’s so). But more and more recently, I really have come to the conclusion that scripture ever more reveals just how true it is, as the world races to embrace so many concepts and ideologies that were held by a distant civilisation and one not even that remote from our own – and that’s that of ancient Rome & later Greece. Although if truth be told I think mankind is actually trying to model itself on even earlier cultures which have been even more detailed through scripture such as those who lived in Sodom & Gomorrah.

Science again playing God – Pt 2

On a similar yet slightly different note to my last post, medicine is forging ahead rapidly too with many advances it deems to be wonderful in the hope of curing many diseases.  Genetic tampering will know few bounds in the future as more and more genes are being considered for removal prior to birth to prevent all manner of things from Down’s syndrome right through to the entire concept of evil – yep, you heard that right – apparently scientists consider they’ve now located a gene that can predispose someone to evil intent be it becoming a psychopath or just a shoplifter, someday you can have a baby scanned for it, & have it removed (Horizon, BBC 2011-2012   link may not be sustained).

This made me think of how much further God will allow science to progress in the future, and I’m expecting quite a long way indeed.  A verse in Revelation used to have me wondering how it could really come to pass and I’m now beginning I think to see some of what the future my hold. The verse in question is:

And in those days men will seek death and will not find it. And they will long to die, and death will flee from them.  Rev 9:6

Science once again openly “playing God”….Pt 1

Watching the BBC program “Horizon:  Playing God” recently had me both transfixed and horrified at the depths to which scientists are prepared to go to get ahead of others in their field, & to be the ones to provide the next new world-changing concept.

Having a strong interest in science myself, I can honestly understand where scientists are coming from on one level, in constantly wanting to break new ground, & find new things, or improve on old ideas etc, but at some point there has to be some sanity within the discipline that recognises that some things truly aren’t meant to be tampered with, & while they may feel that need outweighs any possible detriment in the short term, one has to wonder what the long term repercussions will be.   Science now is already well into blurring the boundaries on all levels as we’re continually indoctrinated, by the multitude of natural history TV programs. into believing that we’ve “evolved” from the animal kingdom anyway, so we should be quite comfotrtable about mixing ourselves back into it again.

The race to embrace the AntiChrist’s system…

I forever marvel at how those who think they are so smart in the world today are so utterly ignorant of the repercussions of their supposedly intelligent decisions.   I equally marvel at how so many have been exposed to the concept of the forthcoming AntiChrist and the system in which he dominates the world leading it ultimately to spiritual death and doom, yet they seem to be oblivious to it when determining how they live their lives or what they accept as truth etc.

Make no mistake about it – all of those things outlined in The Revelation (of Jesus Christ) will absolutely come to pass – just because we can’t fully interpret the actual manner for some events to occur, some are very obvious to even those who can just about read English and have no knowledge in the least about biblical concepts.

Perhaps a couple of examples will aid you in seeing this for yourselves:

1 – Apparently Bill Gates thinks every child under 5 should be automatically stuck on some global computer generated vaccine program which would “remind” all parents to ensure they got their kids vaccinated etc.   While I suspect some overworked mothers may figure that would be a really useful “app” on their mobile phone,  I doubt too many would really stop to look at the bigger and much more dangerous issue here.   Many of those against his plans are purely disagreeing on the basis of how it’s well known that Gates is anything but interested in caring for the individual, and how this cunning plan is actually a means of cutting the population down to size – that’s certainly obvious from the few clips around on You Tube – there’s a strange paradox between what he says and what he does at times, and this time even between his stance and his statements i.e. on another video he says he wants to eradicate CO2 emissions (bit hard to do unless you obliterate the planets entire ecosystem since they generate the bulk of it!!) and one way to do it is to promote vaccines, healthcare and reproductive health services.   Yet if you really did all of those things logic would tell you that you would actually be increasing the world population not decreasing it!   Aside from that, the man’s hypocrisy is outstanding – stating he wants to promote reproductive health while openly doing everything to support abortion.

Forget 2012…check out the Judaic calendar instead!!

2012 planet "clicker" ballsAll the hype about next year just makes me laugh at how fickle human beings are!   People are willing to believe in all the hype generated by the media and to actually panic on the back of it without really checking facts or figures about any of it.    They prefer to believe the predictions provided by a violent occultic race of people  who are long extinct as a culture (but not as a race, as some in Colombia trace their ancestry back to the Mayans still), rather than on much more solidly accurate predictions provided by those whom God Himself called HIS chosen people, the Jews, who are still very much alive today despite all attempts by others to make them extinct as a culture!!   The bible as we know it has been around for 4-5000 years or longer and contains “predictions” made by God Himself and He should know what He has ordained will happen in the future since He’s the only One who “knows the end from the beginning”:

“Remembering former things from forever; for I am God, and no other is God, even none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from the past things which were not done, saying, My purpose shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure; …..” Isa 46: 9-10

In scripture God has provided a lot of information on what will happen in the “last days” and while, certainly, we most definitely are in the “last days” they are not the absolute last days – but rather the last days before Jesus returns to the world to set up his millenial Kingdom (a 1000-year reign on earth).     Prophecies clearly laid out in scripture which have already been fulfilled are all of those relating to Jesus’ birth, death, and resurrection, the early years of history prior to Jesus’ birth including the fall of the Roman Empire, the scattering of the Jewish people, and the rebirth of the Jewish nation, complete with its own language (Hebrew).   If you want to know all of those already fulfilled then head to Israel Prophecies – you can find many unusual ones in there you may never have heard of or come across but are absolutely accurately fulfilled.   These last days leave only a handful by comparison yet to come to pass, and almost all of these relate to Jesus (Yeshua) and how He will complete this particular portion of history by His return to His people (the Jews) who will see Him finally for Who He truly is, and accept Him as their Messiah, before He engages the world in the infamous battle of Armageddon (at Har Megiddo).

However, the world refuses to accept biblical authority in any shape or form, much preferring man’s own writings as trustworthy despite most having been shown throughout history to be anything but in many cases.    And it’s only when you do accept the Bible/Torah as your starting point for Truth that you can truly unravel the real secrets of the future.

The world has absolutely been created in 6 days as Genesis claims (Jewish time book imageGod says what He means and means what He says) and He specifically then had a rest day on the 7th – He didn’t need a rest but perhaps He knew in modelling his future creation that it would need one.   My contention is that as He says through scripture that a day is as a thousand years in his sight, there will be 6000 years before He once again provides a “rest day” for the world and my personal view is that that point will be up ahead when Christ returns to rule the world for the Millenial Reign.   If you consider that the oldest reliable still in use calendar available is the Jewish one and it’s currently standing at 5771, I figure we’ve perhaps 230 years left before that point.    However, please don’t misunderstand my stance on this – I am absolutely categorically NOT date setting in any sense as even the Jewish calendar is most likely inaccurate to at least a few years if not longer.  Things will move at His pace not ours and we certainly cannot and will not bring around our own destruction in any measure.   But scripture lays out the ‘game plan’ for the future of mankind and the earth and more clearly than any other book on earth.

So if you’ve been getting hugely nervous by all the hype about 2012 or any other date up ahead, don’t – instead get hugely nervous about the day you’ve just been given to live as it’s the ONLY one you have any certainty about!!   It’s far more important we consider every day to be possibly our last day and live accordingly, because one day or rather one second, quite suddenly you will discover it was and before you have a chance to say or do anything you may find yourself in the presence of an awesome Creator & Judge who will convict you according to your sins, and unless you have an Advocate before that Throne (in the person of Yeshua/Jesus) you will find no other defence acceptable, as God gave Him to be the final, perfect, and acceptable sacrifice for the sins of all mankind.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.  Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.”   John 3: 16-18

End time discussion – must see!!

If you have either never come across the various end-time views held by evangelical Christians or wonder what all the terms relating to the Millenial reign of Christ mean (pre-, post, and a-millenial), then this is a debate you really don’t want to miss.   John Piper moderates a vibrant discussion between 3 theologians, each of whom holds one of these positions, as they thrash about the reasons why they believe their view is correct, and what it actually means.   An absolutely fascinating and hugely informative debate and one I would urge anyone who has the slightest interest in what comes up ahead for God’s people to give your time to listen to this – it’s lengthy at just over 2 hours, but well worth every second!!

An Evening of Eschatology with John Piper.
