**Please see my earlier post on the same topic from last year.**

For the past 2 years or more, the world has been somewhat fixated on 2012,  as they’ve presumed the ending of the Mayan calendar means the end of the world.   However, many historians have proven how the Mayan calendar only ends in 2012 because the Mayans figured it was as far a date into the future they needed to concern themselves with in the presumption that others after them would continue on the calendar (which of course never happened).  It’s a bit like the early computers which only had dates pre-2000 & which everyone figured equally somehow meant a similar fate to the world when they rolled over into the New Year.

But by far – the more important times & seasons to take notice of and which have equally been proven far more reliable, are those provided in scripture.   Of course, there are no actual dates as such to get fixated on which is good as the recent years have shown we don’t do very well with such things.  But the prevailing signs of the times are there around us for all to see & undertsand in light of scripture.

There are so many prophecies becoming fulfilled in our generation it’s truly astounding – piece by piece God is putting the jigsaw puzzle of His Will for the world together.   The prophetic clock of our times started with the return of the exiles to Israel as God foretold in Ezekiel 20:

Eze 20:38  And I will purge out from among you the rebels and those who sin against Me. I will bring them out from the land where they reside, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel. And you shall know that I am Jehovah.

Eze 20:41  I will receive you with your sweet aroma when I bring you out from the people and gather you out of the lands into which you have been scattered among them. And I will be sanctified in you in the eyes of the nations.

While many in the world fixate on what they perceive to be Israel’s endless aggressive actions towards its (supposedly) peaceful Palestinian neighbours, I find it intriguing that so much attention is paid to such a tiny democracy who’s well outnumbered & outmanoeuvred (sometimes) by those it defends itself against.   I can’t help but suspect if it was any other country in the world with any other particular race of people, it would only net a passing glance (as often happens with other much larger states in Africa for example, which regularly perpetrate far more inhumane actions against their own people let alone for defensive reasons.).   Yet in scripture Israel & the Jewish people are the thread which runs through the entire book from start to finish and without which very little remains of value.

But to return to the thrust of the unfolding story in current times.   While the clock may have started in 1948, it’s rapidly advanced since with many other prophecies at various stages of fulfillment.  These include the return of the (Jewish) exiles to Israel, specifically aided by Gentiles:

Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither.  They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.  Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock.  Jer 31:8-10

Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders. Isa 49:22

But more important ones lie yet ahead and already we can see the stirrings of some which may be realised sooner than anyone could ever imagine.   Looking at the amazing so-called Arab Spring this event has provoked a maelstrom of Islamic uprising which ultimately will prove more dangerous for the entire world than anyone could imagine.  But one country & city in particular will be changed forever through it – if not now, certainly at some point soon, and that’s Syria or more precisely Damascus.   Isaiah outlines her fate very specficially:

The burden of Damascus. Behold Damascus shall cease to be a city, and shall be as a ruinous heap of stones.  Isa 17:1

While obviously we can’t know specific times, this event certainly has never happened to completion in the past so it’s fairly safe to assume it’s yet to do so.   And given the events of the past couple of months, for the first time in this generation at least, it’s easy to see how it could be a feasible event.

In general, others in the process of fulfillment are the apostasy of the (Christian) Church, the provision of biometric ID tracking (in preparation for the 666 system), the installation of a one-world currency & ultimately Government, the melding of computers with humans, & the continuing amazing means of communications which will one day enable everyone in the world to see a representation of the AntiChrist which they will be forced to worship, or be killed.   There was once a time (actually only 30-40 years ago) when much of the above could only be deemed science fiction and inconceivable, yet for the first time ever much of this is in the process of being brought together over the coming decades, and will absolutely one day be a reality.  (I don’t endorse the links – least not in full, but provide them as a starting point for you to go and do your own research).  However, while there may be a catastrophic or other world-changing event happen this year, it will be in God’s prophetic timetable, not the Mayans and the world will most certainly not end this year – again, see my earlier post mentioned above for more info on this.

As ever, in the meantime, we are not commanded by God (i.e. the One, True, Living God of the Bible, Jehovah whose Son IS Jesus!!) to concern ourselves overly with any of the above, other than to be aware so as to be able to best prepare ourselves for how to walk through such times.  God is absolutely in control & we can ensure He will keep His Church safe from being totally blindsided by much of it, unlike those in the world, who will be utterly oblivious to the forces at work behind many of these sometimes seemingly sensible & harmless concepts.

A nanosecond can change your life forever – so use each one wisely, & if you haven’t already, why not use some towards learning more about scripture & the Gospel.   Check out my other posts for more info on salvation (do a search) and seek God now while He continues to grant you life & the ability to do so. 🙂
