Don’t get me wrong – like many, I don’t always agree with the decisions taken by Israel’s rather humanist leftist Government but regardless of that, you have to know that Israel is also God’s timepiece. If you want to know what the future will hold or how things are going to pan out in this world, look to Israel. Throughout history the Land and it’s people the Jews have proven themselves to be under God’s direction and protection many, many times. However, equally so, they’ve been under God’s Judgements many times, and while I know it’s not PC to say it, IF you believe in a totally Sovereign God as I do and IF you believe His Will is perfect as I do, then you have to accept the Holocaust as being part of His plan for His people. To do otherwise, is to give Satan a level of power he has not got. Read Job if you want to see why – no matter what Satan wants to do to God’s people, he has to ask God for permission first!! I’m not saying that God was judging His people per se in the Holocaust – I’m just saying it had a purpose in His Plan for them.
However, I know the Jewish people nowadays view God in a wrong way many times – too many of them hold to a Kabbalistic viewpoint which makes God in subservience to Man – unable to look after His own creation, he needs man to sort it out for Him, and only when we’ve perfected it and ourselves, will He send their Messiah. Many of them don’t believe in a literal hell or heaven, but rather more of a New Age concept of perfected enlightenment or reincarnation until you get there.
Yet regardless of many of their still idolatrous views and practices, God continues to hold them up as His Chosen People, and has declared that they will always remain so.
Jer 31:35 Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name: 36 If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever. 37 Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.
And as we watch them once again in the midst of another mini-war with Hamas, you have to marvel surely at their ability to cope with all that is thrown at them (literally!) by the latter. You only have to look at their early wars to see God’s Hand of providence on them – how else could such a rag-tag army ever face down all of the weapons and warmongering brought against them by their neighbours – if it had been any other country, I guarantee you they’d have been slaughtered in their 100’s. And God has also declared in Ezekiel that they will have to suffer an even worse war up ahead – Joel Rosenberg has written an entire book on the chapters that deal with this – but in Ezekiel 39, God states that at some point up ahead, Israel will have a nuclear strike, but incredibly come through it relatively unscathed unlike those who come against them.
Eze 39:1 The Sovereign LORD said, “Mortal man, denounce Gog, the chief ruler of the nations of Meshech and Tubal, and tell him that I am his enemy. 2 I will turn him in a new direction and lead him out of the far north until he comes to the mountains of Israel. 3 Then I will knock his bow out of his left hand and his arrows out of his right hand. 4 Gog and his army and his allies will fall dead on the mountains of Israel, and I will let their bodies be food for all the birds and wild animals. 5 They will fall dead in the open field. I, the Sovereign LORD, have spoken. 6 I will start a fire in the land of Magog and along all the seacoasts where people live undisturbed, and everyone will know that I am the LORD. 7 I will make sure that my people Israel know my holy name, and I will not let my name be disgraced any more. Then the nations will know that I, the LORD, am the holy God of Israel.” 8 The Sovereign LORD said, “The day I spoke about is certain to come. 9 The people who live in the cities of Israel will go out and collect the abandoned weapons for firewood. They will build fires with the shields, bows, arrows, spears, and clubs, and have enough to last for seven years. 10 They will not have to gather firewood in the fields or cut down trees in the forest, because they will have the abandoned weapons to burn. They will loot and plunder those who looted and plundered them.” The Sovereign LORD has spoken. 11 The LORD said, “When all this happens, I will give Gog a burial ground there in Israel, in Travelers’ Valley, east of the Dead Sea. Gog and all his army will be buried there, and the valley will be called ‘The Valley of Gog’s Army.’ 12 It will take the Israelites seven months to bury all the corpses and make the land clean again. 13 Everyone in the land will help bury them, and they will be honored for this on the day of my victory. I, the Sovereign LORD, have spoken. 14 After the seven months are over, men will be chosen to travel through the land in order to find and bury those bodies remaining on the ground, so that they can make the land clean. 15 As they go up and down the country, every time they find a human bone, they will put a marker beside it so that the gravediggers can come and bury it in the Valley of Gog’s Army. 16 (There will be a town nearby named after the army.) And so the land will be made clean again.”
And finally – how you can always know that Israel will exist long after many of its neighbours have perhaps disappeared is prophecy and the bucketloads of it that relate to future events which require Israel to not only be in existence, but be ruled by the Jews. Jesus has stated He will return to Jerusalem and Israel and have His throne placed there. And many other prophecies apply similarly and since ALL of the previous ones have been fulfilled, I think we can rest easy on the rest of them also coming to pass – some very soon perhaps (like Damascus being destroyed). Whatever your view on this current difficult situation in Gaza, just remember that God will hold you accountable for how you have treated His people – be careful which side you choose!!
